KL Lighting was founded in 2000 by Jeff Mendrala. Jeff was always interested in theater and lighting design. He was involved in multiple theatrical productions including Gospel According to Texas. Jeff saw a need for accredited lighting design in the Austin area. He started out with landscape lighting and smaller residential jobs. As the Austin area grew, so did KL Lighting. It may have started as a small business, but it has turned into a company that works on multimillion dollar projects across the world.
Our aim is to bring together a creative and sensitive approach to light with the understanding of its complicated technical requirements. We focus on pure and responsible design using innovative and creative resources to inspire while providing properly illuminated spaces with a low impact on our environment, but a high impact on the clients’ needs.
